7-day Tropical Weather Outlook (TWO) from NHC coming 2023 season!

Currently outlook is 2-day & 5-day map/text of future possible tropical systems. The 5-day will change to 7-days.

In testing the 5 & 7 day outlooks have performed very closely, so becomes official in 2023!

The 7-day outlooks will apply to the NHC areas of responsibility which includes the Atlantic, East and Central Pacific basins (North of equator). Additional info can be found: weather.gov/media/notification

January 2023 ends with zero named tropical systems in the Atlantic. Invest 90L did form the third week of January in the North Atlantic hitting Nova Scotia though. All quiet currently. Although storms can form any month activity typically picks back up in May. 31Jan2023

invest may have lost it's chance of being declared a tropical or subtropical entity, but still expected to become a powerful North Atlantic Low out at sea. 8Dec2022 ™ (“99L” is a number given to areas being monitored for possible future tropical development potential. They’re numbered 90 to 99 then numbers repeat (so watch dates when looking up info). The “L” just means Atlantic basin (“A” is used for Arabian Sea region).

Some Sub-Tropical trouble out in the central Atlantic this week, no threat to land though as continues out to the Northeast. If you are going to have a December system, this is about where you’d expect one to form. 5Dec2022

Atlantic Hurricane season runs 1June to 30Nov but storms can form in any month. But once the season ends it's typically May before things awaken again. History since 1851 of known tropical cyclones for December, January, February, March and April: (text added to graphic, original map by NOAA).

Saw you mention this site a few times, finally decided to check it out! Mainly into Hurricanes (thanks for those long loop radar imagery!) so may not interact on here much until next year. I do use the off season to go back over all the interesting topics I’ve seen/bookmarked to learn new things though!

As of Saturday 12Nov2022 the Atlantic and East/Central Pacific are now quiet after ’s passage. Hurricane season ends 30Nov.

As Tropical Depression tracks near Atlanta, GA Friday morning, scattered rains continue to affect a large region of the Eastern US. Tornado potential mainly NE of center (yellow boxes = Watch).
