Was just watching MSNBC's post coverage of Kamala Harris' acceptance speech and specifically hosts mention how the structure that Kamala used to deliver it. As a former prosecutor she introduced herself to her audience, lays out her case by introducing evidence, and summarizes what needs to be done to resolve the case. Kamala was being herself as a prosecutor and delivering her speech to the American people why they should trust her to make things right. #politics #Kamala
Had a little over a pound of portobello mushrooms that I had bought about a week or so and needed to use before they went south. So, decided to make Hungarian mushroom soup for lunch today. I'll probably compliment the soup with an oven roasted turkey breast sandwich with basil pesto. #CoSoFood #foodporn #foodpron

Sharing increasingly crowded spaces could result in greater risk of pandemics, human and animal conflicts and loss of nature. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/article/2024/aug/21/humans-to-push-further-into-wildlife-habitats-across-more-than-50-of-land-by-2070-study-aoe

What is the hottest temperature humans can survive? These labs are redefining the limit: In 2019, physiologist Ollie Jay started designing a chamber that could simulate the heatwaves of today and of the future. Jay’s team is also exploring which cooling strategies work best to reduce the health risks of heat exposure. #ClimateChange #heat #humidity #science https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-024-02422-5

#Innewsoftheabsurd Getting old sucks. Looks like our suspicions about how we age have been confirmed. The first changes occurs at about age 44: changes included molecules linked to cardiovascular disease and the ability to metabolise caffeine, alcohol and lipids. At about age 60 include molecules involved in immune regulation, carbohydrate metabolism and kidney function. There might be a third one at age 78. #age #science #nature https://www.theguardian.com/science/article/2024/aug/14/scientists-find-humans-age-dramatically-in-two-bursts-at-44-then-60-aging-not-slow-and-steady
