Two fun-facts I recently learned:

1. Us mammals are saved from many fungal diseases because those fungi can't thrive inside such a warm body.

2. Fungal adaptation to rising global temperatures could quickly change this.

@tyote If temperature were a selective force then I would bet on the thermophilic fungi, which currently thrive @ temperatures up to 60°C. Human body temperature is 37°C. Yes, there currently are fungi capable of surviving at human body temperatures though none from this group has affected humans. Thermophilic fungi are normally used for large-scale production of several compounds by fermentation such as degradation of crude oil and refined petroleum pollutants. Candida arias is one to look for.
