question of the day - beer rating. If reviewing a beer via an online rating site, how much influence does the brewery reputation have over your score? Also, how much of that rating is based on a personal style bias (e.g. dislike dark beers but love hoppy ones).

@beer for my wife and I, none of it is based on the brewery and I would say most is influenced by personal tastes... if you don't like a particular style you're going to rate it lower unless it really stands out somehow.

@Vanzandtjr What you shared is not an uncommon approach.
We rate beers based on meeting the metric for style, regardless of personal style bias. In case the question is asked.
In speaking with breweries, unfortunately, rating based on if the imbiber likes the style is a frustrating qualifier for reviews. Mostly because it cannot account for if that beer met, failed, or excelled in the style requirements.

@beer sadly most of us aren't professional beer tasters, we can only go by what we know. I've never imagined "user" ratings being helpful to a brewery. I'd think how quickly it sells out would be more telling. 😆

@Vanzandtjr Oh, we are well aware of that. And like the rest of ya'll FOMO is real.
