Just a reminder that cancer doesn't care about your wealth.

Cancer doesn't care about the color of your skin.

Cancer doesn't care about your education.

Cancer doesn't care about your gender.

Cancer doesn't care about your age.

Cancer doesn't care about your family.

Cancer doesn't care about your hopes and dreams.

Cancer doesn't care.

Fuck cancer.

What did

Paul Allen

Steve Jobs

The lady who worked at my local gas station

Toby Keith …and

killed them. Billionaires to paupers to middle class, never smoked, smoked like chimneys, ate a perfect diet or ate utter garbage, drank like fishes daily or never touched the stuff, worked out or took walks or sat on their asses all their lives…it killed em all. No amount of money or “prevention” methods made any diff. 🤷‍♂️

@Usama_Backhair @grayman As a Christian I believe in an afterlife. That doesn't mean I don't try to extend my life by counting calories, working out, and avoiding bad habits. It means I have peace in knowing where I will go when death comes. None of us gets out of this alive so don't put off answering these ultimate questions in your own life.

@Usama_Backhair @grayman cancer is a special type of cunt in that it is your own personal disease, tailor made from your own DNA just for ruining you. Hence finding a universal cure is difficult. I do hope that there will one day be a cure, especially with advances in gene therapy etc. I lost a good person in my life a few years ago who died young from this disease.

@Cynanthrope
Agreed. I don't know if it's even
being properly researched at this point, but Dr James Allison formerly of MD Anderson, Then of Jounce Therapeutics (the company he founded, and which recently was sold and taken private) was doing amazing research on Immunotherapy drugs, one of which he gave to Multiple Myeloma patients w/no other treatment recourse, and in I think 80(ish)% their bodies actually fully cured their cancer...I worry since the sale about how that is going.
@grayman

@Usama_Backhair @grayman there's a lot of money to be made in finding a cure so I'm sure that someone somewhere will continue where that research left off. Just hope that it is sooner rather than later.

@Cynanthrope
Yeah, what I worry about is there's a lot more to be made by using "treatments", that involve sometimes decades of infusions of exceptionally expensive drugs like Zometa, my dad underwent 11 years of Zometa infusions and it made the drug company hundreds of thousands of dollars just from one patient...THAT'S why i worry. Dr Allison's drug was one treatment, then one follow up (just to be sure) and it FULLY cured "untreatable" MM in majority of patients trialed.

@grayman

@Usama_Backhair @grayman even something that only takes one treatment could make a fair bit of cash, as cancer affects and will affect a lot more at some point.

@Cynanthrope
Agreed, I worry for some madmen that's simply not exploitable enough though, JNCE had a tender offer from Redx in the UK, and was about to be reverse merged but then Concentra, a privately owned
subsidiary of Tang Capital Partners, did a hostile bid for the deal after they had tanked the stock to just above $1 using short selling. Too important a company to have been allowed imo, but also I'm a capitalist so 🤷‍♂️
I digress< forgive me.
@grayman

@Cynanthrope
A larger company and some investors basically short sold the company until the stock price tanked so they could then take it private, but his research confirmed that the human immune system, (universally, it appeared) can be spurred and encouraged in such specific ways that your body can FULLY CURE even a destructive bone cancer like Multiple Myeloma, which if you're not familiar used to end people sometimes in as fast as 3 weeks.
