California's system to defend against mudslides is being put to the ultimate test.

my first reaction was - there's a system?!?!?!
but nice to see they are doing something to mitigate.
Mariposa County had a bad fire season this summer. At one point the people who had refused to evacuate the #wildfires started calling 911 for help, but they couldn't be helped! It was too late.
😳
@peeppeepcircus The situation there is hard to imagine. Seeing reports of parts of CA receiving 200 - 400% more rain than normal.
@peeppeepcircus We understand the need for temporary repairs esp. to help emergency and 1st responders move quickly but probably additional hidden infrastructure damage that can't be fully evaluated until these storms are over. Hopefully the grasses will help stabilize the top soil.
Stay safe out there!
and the repairs did not hold.
@TybeeMedia
(so... fwiw i do have a pet peeve about anyone telling me to "stay safe" especially since the climate kicked into another gear and extreme things keep happening all around me)
