MAGA enthusiasts seem sick to me. They are immune to reason, to conciliation; they lack empathy and any obvious inclination for community, as if there is a failure of their basic humanity.
Speaking of it as like spreading cancer, metaphorically, seems too on the nose. Maybe that is literally what it is: an infection.
@tyghebright @ToolPackinMama A meme is any atomic unit of information, like a letter or bit. Not just social. A meme-plex or meme-complex is when those bits are assembled into larger structures like words, stories, applications.

The original concept of a meme was the social equivalent of a gene. Some bit of coding that was passed socially, rather than sexually.
We definitely have a damaged meme replicating in our society.
