If you're wondering just how badly prepared the FBI was for J6, behold the testimony of FBI Special Agent Nicole Miller in today's Proud Boys trial.

@jjmacnab that's just scary. I just find that difficult to believe? Unless they're so busy at work that they don't read or something?

@Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine @jjmacnab Apparently they dropped the priorities meetings and had everyone pick their own domestic threat instead.

@Saorsa @jjmacnab But the FBI keeps tracks of individuals not groups. I thought they couldn't watch groups just individuals? So maybe no one from that group was on their radar? It's so strange to me though! When the Facebook group was all about Naruto running into Area 51 it was taken very seriously, even though it was funny, and the people arranging the buses from Michigan to take people there on January sixth seriously talked about what they were going to do! Like everyone saw it!

@Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine I feel pretty certain the FBI keeps track of groups. How would you know about someone like Stewart Rhodes and not keep an eye on the Oath Keepers? @jjmacnab

They might not have kept too close eye on them pre-January 6th. I vaguely remember the FBI was working on a report regarding right-wing extremism, but they backed off after conservative lawmakers found out and pitched a fit. (I think it was under the Obama administration.)

@TomeReader Yes I remember this. I just think they'd be a little reticent to just toss the data though. Call me paranoid. @Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine @jjmacnab
