The Aztec word for avocado was ahuacatl, which means โtesticle treeโ.
Spanish explorers could not pronounce ahuacatl, so they called the avocado, โaguacate.โ This is the origin of the word guacamole.

Here's one for you-
Bonaca (Mayan for turtle) town is on the island of Guanaja, visited by Columbus on voyage 4 and became a haven for privateers and pirates who became known as bonacanieros, later buccaneers
Might also be the origin for BBQ, due to the pit cooking method used with turtles
