Here are todayโ€™s five things to know about Guacamole:

Avocados are native to Central and South America.

The Aztec word for avocado was ahuacatl, which means โ€œtesticle treeโ€.

Spanish explorers could not pronounce ahuacatl, so they called the avocado, โ€œaguacate.โ€ This is the origin of the word guacamole.

That's a fine gif of a down-payment on a mortgage you've got there! ๐Ÿ˜‚

@TheNewsOwl
Thanks!
Here's one for you-
Bonaca (Mayan for turtle) town is on the island of Guanaja, visited by Columbus on voyage 4 and became a haven for privateers and pirates who became known as bonacanieros, later buccaneers

Might also be the origin for BBQ, due to the pit cooking method used with turtles

I need to go back!

@TheNewsOwl Avacados evolved to be the food for a giant sloth in North America that is now extinct.

@j0n Good morning wonderful! A big hug ๐Ÿค— for you this Saturday. โค๏ธ
