As one of my friends pointed out and I have to concede:
The Republicans have been delivering on their promises for at least 40 years now. You wanted deregulation, lower taxes (especially for businesses), and an ever-shrinking safety net, you got it.
Meanwhile, Democrats in power have tended to deliver either nothing or whatever the previous decade's GOP platform was. Clinton cut the Superfund and welfare; Obama gave us the Brady Bill again.
Are we really surprised the GOP base turns out?
@danialexis Agreed. Even if by some miracle, the Dems win the presidency and supermajorities in the House and Senate, I can't imagine any serious efforts will be made at reining in SCOTUS or expanding the court.
Instead, they'll continue to treat bullet wounds with bandaids, and we'll forever remain one Republican administration away from authoritarian collapse.
