@Thumprhare @ucantstop_me People aren't even in jail for trying to overthrow the government. Turns out justice and the law is highly selective.
@Thumprhare Guh, yup. Disgusting.
@Thumprhare @Tail @ucantstop_me
More like "selective in that it's based on the principle that US Attorneys don't bring cases they can't win".
@mcfate @Thumprhare @ucantstop_me This is really accurate, and probably the worst part of it.
The how and why those cases can't be won is worth taking into consideration.
@Tail @Thumprhare @ucantstop_me
Okay, you can't actually build a complete case here. Yammering nonsense about stealing an election isn't really a "bright-line" case of insurrection. He hasn't called people to literal arms, he hasn't promoted shooting anyone.
I get he makes people mad, but that's STILL not a crime.
@mcfate @Thumprhare @ucantstop_me In this instance I was more generalizing Trump himself and many of the people who stormed the capital. His going bonkers in itself isn't a crime, but if he makes false statements under oath, that would have to count for something right?
@Tail well selective in that it’s based on your race, gender, and wealth —seemingly in that order.
