I'd actually like to start using this thread as a way for the #CosoCommunity to discuss steps we can take to hold corporations accountable, ways we can change our habits towards the environment and share media about climate change. I will pin this thread to my profile we can use #UseTheVolcano to keep track.
@Sr0bi Corporate money has no business being in our news media. You can't give unbiased information without doing so. I agree.
The fix: require any media with "News" in it's title to be factual (perhaps via independent fact-checkers), with substantial penalties for violations.
@Tacitus_Kilgore Most of the ways we regular folks are told to change our environmental habits have no discernable impact.
We're told about them so that we blame ourselves, when the real problem is unchecked industry using all these wasteful products and methods.
But if we're told it's _our_ fault, we'll get to throwing out our plastic straws and squabbling over recycling, while they pollute to their heart's content.
@AskTheDevil In a lot of ways we should blame ourselves. But yes, I agree with what you said.
We know better, we've known better. We are guilty of recognizing the lie and not doing what we knew to be right.
That brings us to the other lie. We believe they have the power they say they have, when really it is a thin veneer of illusion.
@Tacitus_Kilgore Yes. This. All this.
@Tacitus_Kilgore
If you want it to work, the corporations to hold accountable first are NBC, ABC, CNN, NYT . . . .
