Penzy's took a very loud, very public stand.
Their website was down briefly, I guess. Flooded with hate mail.
It's back up though. If you want to read the statement, it's here.
In hacker news:
The world's dumbest hacker decided it was a great idea to hack the central website of the biggest network of cyber security and computer programmers in the world. AND piss off the biggest collective of trolls on the net, at the same time.
It's not going well for them.

@th3j35t3r Fun little story for you.
A friend used to work at CS and nearly their entire job was writing & maintaining a testing bot to ensure that new code was in compliance with all the standards across all the platforms and didn't throw errors before it was committed.
They quit not too long ago. In large part because they got sick of all the programmers not using the software bot to check their work before trying to commit.
I want to call and ask... But also their portfolio is probably ๐๐ฑ.
I was wondering about the CWs I've seen on really basic pictures of *knitting*. Like, no faces, no food, no ๐. Just "I finished my mittens. Here's a pic behind a CW." I find a lot food pics gross, especially raw meat (seriously, it's the inside of a body, just no), and I'm an bloody omnivore. But cake behind a CW? Seems excessive.
I'm just unfollowing any who do such ridiculous steps. They aren't my crowd. ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
I've had several conversations with friends about retweeting unverified Middle East propaganda. Most have been accepting that due diligence is important.
But one friend could not understand, despite me pointing to where major outlets like CNN say explicitly that "these reports are unverified."
When I showed him the videos of what's been going on in the US, he refused to believe it because major outlets hadn't reported the Arabic chants of "death to Jews."
We are now no longer friends.
Me, replying to someone: This chat is notoriously prudish and puritanical. Ask me in DMs.
SFW Chat Owner: Me and the whole mod team were irked by your derogatory description of the chat.
Me, to myself: Thus proving my point.
I have to walk away from BlueSky, at least for a month. All my acquaintances are falling for every piece of Gaza propaganda that comes out.
I've had direct conversations with several of them and yet they keep reposting agitprop and lies. I've had long conversations about ethno-nationalist cleansing terms like River to the Sea, Blรผt und Boden (Blood and Soil), Lebensraum, and Manifest Destiny yet it doesn't seem to break through the perasive haze of antisemitism.
I'm tired. And angry.
Not to sound flippant or dismissive of the death of a human being, but how is this news?
A) It's a Waffle House.
B) There was a murder.
A always implies B. In fact, all jokes aside, I don't think there's a single Waffle House in the US that hasn't seen at least one murder.
That said, the macabre humor is kinda funny, anyway. Or maybe it's just that I have to laugh so I don't scream at yet another mass shooting in the US.
Someone posted the first image to my chat, and the second came flooding into my mind.
Because I'm old.
"Opinion: I reported on Hamas in Gaza for over a decade. Here are the questions Iโm asking myself now "
From CNN no less...

After a year on Counter Social, I consume social media so so differently.
Over on BlueSky, I watch the fireworks and have no interest in getting involved. In fact, I'm vaguely wondering where Jester is and why I haven't seen multiple troll-splat emojis.
My furry friends and the artists are over there, but so are the dramallamas.
It's exhausting.

Almost fell for an online scam. The first image is the jacket they advertise, but the second is /also/ shown in the listing.
You don't have to be a fashion guru to see the massive difference in materials and manufacturing quality between the two.
Guess which one you'd get in the mail if you actually spent money with this scammy company. Avoid LightInTheBox.
