@Smersh Almost all of what you describe is the responsibility of the Afghan gov't. Why should the US & others [continue to] pay warlords, the military, etc? This is the result of multiple failures. Pointing fingers at the current administration is only going to inflame tensions, draw it into a political argument, & will cause a not insignificant number of people to ignore any debate you attempt.
Thoughts and prayers might not be the answer YOU are looking for, but they can never hurt.
@Smersh I can completely understand not informing the ANA on the base pullout schedule, given previous green on blue incidents. And not having a system for pulling out translators and other allies is reprehensible. But there's plenty of other blame to go around for the past 20 years.
Oh no doubt there’s blame to go around but leadership is knowing you’re stuck with the check and need to deal with it. My understanding on the base pullout is that it wasn’t just ANA who weren’t informed but also our allies in the area.
@Synical
Happy to debate that this is indeed #BidensBlunder despite the war predating this current administration. Warlords switching allegiances because they haven’t been paid in months, not informing the ANA that we were abandoning bases overnight and not having a system in place to patriate translators and other allies before pulling the cord - these are all on the current admin who wanted out before the 20th anniversary.
Thoughts and prayers aren’t the answer.
