Southern Watersnake. Non-venomous. They eat frogs and such. They don't bother people, though they'll bite you if you pester them.

Love the photograph, but there is not enough money in the universe to convince me to get into that water. I respect snakes but have no desire to get up close and personal with them.
@Stonekettle , Nerodia!! Nice capture showing the barred labial scales that help ID these guys. ๐ I've seen northern ones up in Central MI. They're pretty shy here.
