My sympathies are also with the people doing security in and around the RNC convention.

1) They're going to have to work harder.
2) They will have idiots trying to "help."
3) People will be panicky.
4) Conspiracy theories will fly no matter what.

You know, I'd like to live in a country where every day I didn't see some news that made me concerned about an utter political and social meltdown.

Quite seriously, we need more security around all elected officials right now. Whatever the cause of this, A) people may be stupid, B) If this is some organized plan other people may be in danger.

Right now with the state of politics I doubt I can trust any conclusion I see.

My 100% certain opinion on what happened to Trump today is "I have no goddamn idea."

Honestly, seeing the fallout from Beryl is pretty horrific. Realizing this is the future for many is far worse, and we're not ready.

It's legitimate to discuss the politics that got Texas - and soon other states - here. But also a reminder that a LOT of people are going to suffer because of climate change.

Its weird to think how this election may boil down to how much people actively, personally, specifically, hate another candidate.

Thoughts:

An oligarch on their High Place thinks damaging Biden may get you Trump and tax cuts.

Only now people are angry, Trump has immunity, there's P2025, and a lot of people rightfully see Trump term 2 as a mortal threat to them.

Trump supporters will be violent anyway. But now how many people are fearful, angry, and pissed. Trump is more demented.

So what's an oligarch to do as you may be facing real civic meltdown.

One thing to keep in mind about the NYT declaring Trump unfit now. My take is the NYT board and minions aren't dumb, they just realize how screwed they are.

I think the Biden thing was actually a hope for Dems to put in a boring guy.

if Trump wins, it's game over. You won't care about your taxes when mass deportations crash the economy and become a civil war. You won't have a stock market when six hurricanes hit the coast and Trump's team is too busy paying off grifters to rebuild.

BTW I will give Clooney credit for one thing, he noted Biden stepping aside might be like what we saw in france, consolodiation. I get that.

But he put the Burden on one person. It should have been "we all have to come together, and I'm sure Biden and everyone else will make the right choice."

By the way I think there are non-destructive ways to ask Biden to step aside.

1) ask privately, publicly say he should make the best choice.
2) emphasize Blue all the way down
3) support other candidates for other positions to emphasize unity.

A reminder that the Russians are trying to undermine Biden. Don't help them by panicking. Focus on defeating the GOP.
