@StevenSavage: A lot of people's politics can be summed up as "I don't have much self-awareness or self-control, and I'm upset and frustrated, and so I'm going to take it out on my preferred targets of convenience and opportunity, most of which are strangers and people far away from me, but that's good because I need something to make me feel effective and in control somehow, as if I make a difference; my self-worth is vicarious".
