We need to rethink policing in this country from the ground up. There is no excuse for this shit happening even once, and yet it happens all. the. time. It has to stop. Democracy cannot sustain itself if it continues to weaponize a protected group of people (like the police) against another group of people based on an arbitrary feature (like their skin color).
