We need immigrants to come here, immigrants make the country better and stronger, and helping people who come here seeking asylum from dangerous conditions elsewhere is a good thing.

So when you hear them appealing to white supremacy and xenophobia by whipping up fear of an imaginary "invasion" of Spanish-speaking people with brown skin, remember they refused to do anything about it when they had the opportunity to do so. They didn't even bother to hide that that's what they were doing—they have that much contempt for their own voters. Don't accept the premise of their fearmongering.

Let's be honest: Republican politicians don't give one solitary shit about immigration. If they did, they would have voted to pass the Senate bill that they themselves negotiated in which Democrats gave them everything they said would address the so-called "crisis". But they voted against it, either because they know there isn't really a problem (which in fact, there isn't), or because they don't really want to solve it (which, in fact, they don't).

But it's not just about the presidency. We can see by looking at the states that abortion rights are greater and most protected in states where the Democrats have more power, and most restricted and under attack in states where Republicans have more control, and the GOP has come right out and said if they get the opportunity they'll ban abortion nationwide. The only way to stop that is to elect as many Democrats as possible, from Joe Biden on down the ballot.

Reminder: Trump appointed three Supreme Court Justices fully understanding and expecting they would provide the votes needed to overturn Roe v. Wade, regressing to the chaos we're now seeing in Texas and other red states. Joe Biden responded by strengthening abortion rights and access at the federal level as much as his executive authority will allow, and that's vastly more important than whether it occasionally takes him a few extra seconds to remember something or say it properly.

This freakout about Biden's cognitive capacity was triggered by the insinuations of a Trump-allied hack taken out of context and overblown by a media in need of sensationalist clicks and a false equivalence built on minimizing Trump's numerous and deep flaws while maximizing Biden's comparatively few and superficial ones.
