The song that made my day 2023.03.31:
boygenius - "the film"
OK, I'm cheating a bit since this is a short film featuring 3 songs ("$20", "Emily I'm Sorry", and "True Blue") from the new boygenius record "the record". boygenius is a collaborative effort featuring Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, who are all great on their own, but blended together their voices are melting me into a puddle.
What song(s) made your day today?
Would *love* to see Republican lawmakers try to explain to the MAGA base why they want to protect Clinton, Obama, and Biden from prosecution when Trump doesn't even need their protection since he's as pure as the new-fallen snow.
the strong and blinding toad
that speeds through your poor
will never diss a peer
I've greened that toad, pre-spoor
Listened to "Songs of Surrender" today. They could have just called it "U2 Unplugged" like any other band, and then everyone who listens to it will get exactly what they're expecting and probably most of them will be satisfied. But in true U2 fashion, they're hyping the shit out of it like it's the reinvention of the fucking wheel, which is no more the case than with any other rock band faced with arranging their songs for acoustic instruments. Why set everyone up for disappointment, mates?
