@CaliZaybak Especially since he apparently doesn't know that Kimberly Guilfoyle and Kellyanne Conway are two different people.

Currently reading this gem. Just finished the Joanne Kyger interview in which she talks about "the Homer Dome": a way of mapping her own life and experiences onto a Homeric narrative. "I liked the long human story going on...the things that make me feel common over at least ten thousand years. I'm part of the past romantics, and that is timeless and it's charming and it's breathing with the animals still." Next: Anselm Hollo!

Seems like a phenomenon that's ripe for conspiracy theories. "Oh, you think it's just a "coincidence" that Amurcan trees are suddenly exploding as a commie spy balloon floats across the country? Wake up, sheeple!"

Apparently (according to a fan theory from the Federalist Society that the Supreme Court is turning into canon) the Constitution generates a Time Lock, trapping the nation's laws and policies inescapably in the 18th century.

The song that made my day 2023.01.29:
Complete Mountain Almanac - "February"

From a song cycle created by a Swedish musician, an American poet, and the poet's brothers, who also happen to be members of The National. A lilting whirl of strings plucked, strummed and bowed by turns cushion and counterpoint the gorgeous voicings of the evocative lyrics.

Death Valley Girls - "Wear Black"

Because I'm an absolute sucker for fuzzed-out garage punk, especially if it also features wild flourishes of Farfisa organ, which this does. From the LA group's 2018 LP "Darkness Rains", brought to my attention on DJ Zelda's Humboldt Hot Air show The Cleaving Hours.

Sports Team - "The Drop"

London's Sports Team marry a hook that could've come from the Dandy Warhols to a vocal melody that gives me a strong Franz Ferdinand vibe--as do the lyrics (starting with "Oh, Katie died, just waiting for the right time to retire"). A gleeful tweak to the nose of work culture.

@The_USA_Singers lol [sinister voice] "Little did Crosby know that, because he had learned the truth about the Kennedy assassination, he had only (checks notes) 55 years left to live!"

Envisioning a protest in which Tucker Carlson is pelted with green M&Ms by a crowd chanting "Fuck this! Fuck this! Fuck this!"

The song that made my day 2023.01.22:

Screaming Females - "Brass Bell"

This is a prog-punk tour de force, from the loopy synth that blurs, decays and is replaced by the full band playing it in stop/start time, through the multiple distinct interlocking sections (including not one but two metal-inspired guitar solos). The singer keeps saying it's too loud but trust me, you're going to want it loud.

The song that made my day 2023.01.18:

John Handy - "Hard Work"

With its casually swinging saxophone and funky bass gelling into such a sweet groove my first guess would have been late '60s, Blue Note. But surprise! This was released on the Impulse! label and recorded in 1976 by a group led by John Handy on the sax.
