Just goes to show he is completely ignorant of the “waste not” culture that is central to most indigenous cultures.
The Buffalo were killed en masse when the railroads were built. Not by indigenous people, here.
Manifest Destiny was the impetus for mass killing of Buffalo in the plains. Sheridan was very vocal in his protest of allowing Native Americans to hunt Buffalo. He’s wrong.
