@StephanieResists I know. I felt terrible to hear that about him. But I was also furious with him. He was 60, wife and daughter. WTF??? Like you, I still can't make any sense of it all as well. People still refusing to get vaccinated, getting covid and dying! Three years later...then you have people refusing other vaccines, so things like polio, scarlet fever, measels, etc are making a comeback! I am beyond pissed!

There's a whole subreddit dedicated to people who say the virus is a democratic hoax, that the vaccine is poison, and the people who get vaxxed are going to die. They're all trump supporters, of course, and they all wind up in the hospital saying, "covid is no joke". Some get intubated, some don't make it, some go home and either change their tune or go right back to the virus being a hoax. It's straight insanity.

My friend was a supporter and also machismo. He probably thought that even if he did get it, it would be nothing. I used to see him every summer at the beach. He used to ride his unicycle from his home..20+ miles. Prob thought he was invincible. Attended his wake virtually. Not one person was wearing a mask. WTF??? Yes, insanity!

Similarly, Aug '21, my good friend passed from #covid also. He was in his early 40s, worked out w a personal trainer, wasn't unhealthy, but was traveling all during the pandemic. He just didn't take it seriously. Went down to FL to open a restaurant, came back up to LI & the next day, tested positive. 3 weeks later, he was dead. Few people were masked at his funeral & they asked if I wanted to go get food after 🤦‍♀️ I haven't sat inside a restaurant since 2019.

First time since 2019 was this past Xmas eve. I was not happy about it, but it was with our family who had Covid-19 last Xmas. Thank goodness we didn't get sick. My husband and I went to a concert at Jones Beach this past summer. Despite it being outside, we were masked.

It really was a terrible situation. Thankfully, it woke up a lot of his friends and especially his sister to be more cautious. It just took a little while to sink in lol.

The chance of catching it outdoors is really slim, but packed together like that, I'd do the same. I'm glad the times you did take a chance were lucky!

I know that the risk is lower outdoors, but since it was a concert and we had orchestra seats, we took no chances. I could count on 1 hand how many ppl were wearing masks. Some guy was actually staring at us. My husband stared him right down. We only dined indoors on Xmas eve. That was it. We were lucky

Like my husband and I say, we can only protect ourselves. We never stopped masking, washing hands, social distancing. At the concert, we didn't go near the concession stands, even though they were outside as well. Bathrooms
avoided. Where we were seated we didn't have ppl around us. Seats were empty

I've gone to indoor places, bc I have a kid and I think it's important for growth and culture to be able to visit museums, aquariums, nature centers, etc. But we mask and haven't stopped since the beginning either. Most places require a reservation now to ensure it doesn't get too crowded, thankfully.

@ExecutiveFunction404 @StephanieResists I get it! You are a responsible person with protocols, so taking your child to indoor activities is reasonable. They need the exposure to cultural experiences. It also helps that places require reservations to avoid overcrowding.
Yeah, they refurbished the entire amphitheater. Concession stands are outdoors. All kinds of foods, drinks...

My life isn't any different for not going out to restaurants. Hibachi is the only thing I haven't eaten since. We still order and carry out elsewhere. In the summer, we'll sit outside. It doesn't seem like the end of the world to me. I don't understand the vitriol over it 🤷‍♀️

I just buy my own sake and we are good! 🤣 We do carry out as well and eat outside as well in the summer. No big deal, at least for us. Like you, I don't understand what the issue is either. My husband and I were homebodies to begin with, so we remain content and happy.

I miss dancing so much. I haven't been to a club in years. I've been to a few outdoor events, but nothing inside. I love going out, but it's not worth my health; now or in the future.

While I love the fresh food in restaurants, I wasn't a fan of going to restaurants to sit and wait. It doesn't jive well with the adhd lol. Hibachi is different, bc half the fun is being there.

That's my main affliction is the lack of dancing. It was my exercise, bc regular exercise is incredibly boring to me and the delayed reward isn't conducive to my brain chemistry 😂 A solo dance party in my living room just isn't the same hahaha (tho that has definitely happened!)

It's not so much that I hate ppl. I actually do like ppl. or else I would not have been a hairdresser or become a social worker. We just have to jive energetically! LOL! If not, then I find them draining. I miss my Tai Chi classes. Those were actually great exercise and lots of fun!

Was hospitalized, intubated. Another niece worked with resp.ther. She told my nephew to demand the MD give niece invermectin!!! I ripped that niece another Ahole. My husband also laid into her as well. This is the crazy shit that healthcare workers are also pushing!

ICU nurses won't pull that nonsense. It's easy to say when you're not the one caring for an entire ward of intubated patients laying prone bc it's easier for them to mechanically breathe on their stomachs, including young children.

This whole world needs a crash course in empathy. I always had faith in people caring for others when their lives are also affected...until the pandemic. I broke down to my husband when it hit, bc it's honestly so depressing.

This respiratory therapist was a friend of another niece, who had worked in healthcare with her. Spewing nonsense about using a medication for deworming horses. I agree, the world does need a crash course in empathy and compassion. I also worked in healthcare during Covid-19 I am still traumatized.

To be fair, ivermectin isn't just a cattle med, which I'm sure you know since you were in healthcare. However, yes, bc they couldn't get it legally prescribed, they were eating horse paste & ensuring that cattle that needed it wasn't able to get it.

Their whole existence is selfish. Their motto is "idc, I got mine". It started with the toilet paper in 2020 & never stopped. Even to the point of traumatizating others. Sorry you had to deal with that 😔

@ExecutiveFunction404 @StephanieResists that is true, but given the grave situation with her immune system being so severely compromised, invermectin was not the answer for my niece. If she didn't respond to the therapeutics, they were prepared to tranfer her to NYU to be placed on an ECCO machine.
As for those who were hoarding it, like toilet paper, etc. it all does come down to them being utterly selfish. You are right, it has never stopped. I hope I am dead before the next pandemic hits

@ExecutiveFunction404 @StephanieResists I know. Some actually prefer that over the therapeutics. 😳 I actually learned about invermectin because I have rosacea. People use it to treat it. My condition is under control. But the topical medication has invermectin in it, small dose. So, yes, it does have medicinal uses. For Covid-19, IDK.
Yes, we were very happy she didn't require further intervention.
I hope that ppl develop compassion as well before the next pandemic! 🙏

You think after seeing someone close to them die of Covid and the knowledge that that person was not vaccinated, you would think that they would put 2+2 together, but they don't. They double down instead. I guess admitting that you're wrong about something is harder than dying.

What the fuck are they trying to prove? But, you made a valid point. They would rather die than admit that they were wrong.
