Treason's Greetings π
We may have lost congress in the midterm, but it looks like we may have over 30 chances to make that up. #indictments are coming.
@singlemaltgirl @StephanieResists speaking as the ex spouse of an AUSA, I can tell you there is nothing in the world that will make one rush through building their case just to get indictments
@Darkenyght1701 that's fair. i understand building a case & not bowing to public pressure to do your due diligence. but given the evidence available in the public sphere alone - thru the jan 6 hearings, thru their social media, text messages, & what they say publicly that has been recorded & witnessed by 100s if not 1000s, indictments for some should have come long before. the fact they haven't makes me doubt any will be forthcoming. but that's just me.
@singlemaltgirl @Darkenyght1701 It's frustrating to me as well but I just remember how grotesquely huge this is and how many arms it has. I feel that if they arrest anyone before they have absolutely everything ready, the others will lose their false sense of security, some will flee, others clam up, some will start organizing with each other because then they'll know which way the investigation is heading and form preemptive moves, etc. Arrest the car thief and the chop shop vanishes.
@StephanieResists oh, i get it. ii just doubt it will happen before a whole bunch of us are all dead.
or maybe, trump will get elected in 2024, & he'll pardon all the fuckers anyway.
or they'll be considered too old to prosecute & we leave them on compassionate grounds.
etc.
@singlemaltgirl @StephanieResists I don't see Trump winning without a lot of shenanigans.
And Whitey Bulger was around his age if I remember correctly when he was convicted for his organized crime activities.
@Darkenyght1701 i don't see trump running w/o a ton of shenanigans. the thing is, he's been allowed to. in 2016. in 2020. what would be diff in 2024?
but i'm a pessimist so there's that.
@singlemaltgirl @StephanieResists I don't think he's going to run, period, simply because there are too many investigations going on into his behaviors.
If Smith doesn't get him first, GA will.
@Darkenyght1701 you have more faith in his sense of self preservation than i do. i think he thinks he's truly untouchable. that he'll be saved by magats. or won't ever be indicted if the doj is too worried about magats reactions. etc.
@singlemaltgirl @StephanieResists considering where Smith was conducting his war crimes investigation, I don't think he's going to let disgruntled rednecks stop him from indicting Trump.
@singlemaltgirl @StephanieResists The J6 committee report is coming out soon, and reportedly there will be criminal referrals to DoJ in it.
The interesting thing will be, does Garland act on his own to follow through, or does he defer to Smith ?
@Darkenyght1701 @singlemaltgirl I think Smith was brought in because of his reach and to keep away from partisan appearances and that's why I feel that the GQP has been trying to paint him as partisan AF as well as his wife. Garland has been signing off on everything so far to my knowledge.
@StephanieResists @singlemaltgirl Surprisingly there has been absolutely no leaks coming out of Smith's investigation
@singlemaltgirl They're not going to rush, and they could have charged an arrested a couple years ago and called it a day, but why get the kid who stole your car when you can follow him and get the whole organization that he was stealing for and everyone that was buying the cars. When you shoot for the king, you best not miss.
@StephanieResists i know they often use this rationale for drug dealers vs getting the cartel bosses. or the mafia - low level thugs vs the head dons.
but, imho, the 'low level thugs' are causing chaos w/in the very institutions that can't be undone. scotus appts, regardless of your indictments, aren't going to change. judiciary appts, regardless of your indictments, will continue to set precedents in states that allow for gerry mandering & loss of ind rights.
the king is not on the throne.
@StephanieResists no offense but i've been hearing this for over 2 years. are we going to get indictments when they or we, are all...
