hellloooooo #cosogaming folks. I remember someone saying "<insert name here> is the greatest game ever and I can't be convinced otherwise" or something akin to that and I am unable to find it. So if you said it, please say it again or how about everyone tell me the best game you like that IS NOT HORROR (because I'm a big scaredy pants). I have all platforms, but lean toward Playstation and NIntendo of all generations #cosogamers help a sister out!
Fable TLC is like... a classic salt and pepper steak, as far as stories go. Basic fantasy, good monsters, compelling and emotional story but it’s nothing particularly new.
I like the combat but it’s really easy to get OP, especially with the resurrection phials, and especially if you know what spells are worth it (slow time, berserk, enflame, and physical shield ftw). The morality scale is an interesting twist but it’s honestly verging on gimmicky... ->
@Stace Because the story isn’t really dramatically altered by your choices - there’s some, but it’s not like there’s a butterfly effect or anything. Mass Effect does a bit better but let’s be honest, it would take a quantum crystal to store enough data to really pull that off well, I think.
@Stace If you want an interesting and, imo very unique story, I personally recommend Assassin’s Creed, AC2, AC Brotherhood, and AC Revelations.
And I /guess/ AC3 just to complete Desmond’s story.
AC1 is a bit slow but it lays the foundation and gets the ball rolling. It really takes off with AC2, which is probably the best of them all. The story is complex and very intriguing and, while it has ups and downs in quality, I think it’s one of the best stories in videogaming.
@Stace If it’s replayability you’re after, nothing can beat Bethesda and the mod-friendly games like Fallout and Skyrim.
The original release of Skyrim (“Oldrim”) still has a thriving community of active modders, damn near a decade after it was released. That is UNHEARD of, especially in the age of new sequels in a franchise every year or two.
It’s buggy and the voice acting cast is small as fuck and could definitely be better and the graphics didn’t age well...
But that doesn’t matter... ->
@Stace ... because there are literally at least three mods for every issue you might have with the game, lol.
And there’s resources available to help you make your own mods, too.
I don’t think there’s another game like that on the market anywhere (at least from a different company).
It can literally be turned into another game - u want sum Darksouls in ur Skyrim? There’s mods for that. U want sum Macho Man Randy Savage? Thomas the Tank Engine? Hell yeah, they got you. ... ->
@Stace ... There’s mods that update the graphics like you wouldn’t believe, mods that overhaul the combat and magic systems, mods that add whole new storylines and playable areas and monsters and everything...
Skyrim with mods is second only to fuckin MINECRAFT in terms of sheer infinite possibility.
Oh, yeah, and Minecraft is bonkers, too.
Skyrim + mods and Minecraft are both excellent games to lose vast swaths of time to. Approach with caution, lol.
@GlytchMeister I haven't tried Skyrim because I hear it's addictive...but I've been all in Fallout 4 with mods so figure I've probably been already been playing similar games (I get 'caught' in RPGs and can't stop). I do like the flexibility of mods a lot! Fallout is fantastic but I've played a few variations and am not feeling post-apocalyptic at the moment ;) I hadn't considered Mass Effect...will look at them now that I've gotten some new perspective. Thanks :)!
@Heucuva8 the phobia mod for ghouls is the one Ithat made me able to play again. honestly there are places I d9n't want to go because I freak out with ghouls.....usually I can just wear good armor and take companions and close my eyes but that is not really playing ;) I like settlement building too :D @amarand @GlytchMeister
@Heucuva8 how'd you do that? I didn't know there was a workshop there! @amarand @GlytchMeister
There's not. But the Build Anywhere Workshop mod allows you to craft an item called "~Fetch Workshop" under Utility in the Chemistry table.
And that item, when made is in your inventory and summons a workshop bench to your location. Wherever you are. Even outside of Settlements. And you can use it to enter Settlement Mode anywhere.
@Heucuva8 oooh! I remember seeing that one. <making notes for later> @amarand @GlytchMeister
I built a settlement at Big John's Salvage yard.
😆
