The Betta is gone. Time to do something new, not exactly sure what it will be yet. For certain a new substrate as there a few plants I want to try. The rest depends on what kinds of fish are in stock that can go in a tank this size. There are options, another Betta, small Rasboras, Endlers, White Cloud minnows, shrimp, maybe a Ram or a Gourami.

@Daryl_Knee oof. Unsolicited advice backed up by the 90g in my living room and decades of breeding...

Rams need a minimum 30ish gallons to be happy, they're fairly territorial and need some space. A gourami might work but I'd be cautious as I've had some over the years harass to death more timid fish, 10g isn't going to give them much room to hide either.

You could probably add some shrimp in addition to those other fish if you want some variety.

@Smersh I certainly have no plan to overstock. If I got a Ram it would be something like the Electric Blue. I would still do my research. As for a Gourami, likely a Honey, if I felt the tank situation was OK. Not my only tank, so I have options. Don't mind the advice one bit. We build on other peoples experiences.

@Daryl_Knee 👍

Glad to hear you know what you're doing! I always get a bit worried when I see folks posting their sub-20 gallons, especially with the chain pet stores letting folks go home with goldfish and the like for them.

@Smersh I could never work that job. I'd be too honest. 😜 I hate stores that don't educate. A good experience turns a starter tank into one or more larger ones. A bad experience puts the starter kit on a buy&sell.
