I upset many a youngster in my young adulthood who would say, "Excuse me, Sir?" And I would turn around and they would turn purple with embarrassment.
I tried to say it was fine.
Maybe it is now.
But as I am Mom I prefer that, ma'am, or Captain.

In my life I thought I had probably about 50 people including relatives who I thought I could trust completely, not including my household.
Over the past few years that number comes out as 5. With 2 relatives.
And you know what?
That makes complete sense.

Me- "I said it's bedtime. Get your things please and get in bed."
Younger son- "Yes Sir."
Me- "I told you. Ma'am or Captain. But not Sir. But I prefer Mom."

He just sent her this text from bed.
This is why these people are people who I love.

Smokers, of which I am one, will do something that is now called Packing cigarettes because with a pack that's a box you do the whole thing instead of one at a time, which back in the day was called Tamping.
