I took now 16 to a classmates birthday party in 1st grade and I had to take now 14 along, in his stroller, and a Dad said to now 14, "Shouldn't you be walking by now?"
And I snapped my fingers to get the Dad's attention and said, "Do you want to chase him?"
He stared at me and then walked away.
This kid is FAST.
And he liked the stroller because usually people left him alone.

3 adult humans and 2 Australian shepherds brought down my son before he could drown.
Because my mother didn't listen.
I got on a horse one more time.
It's terrifying.
They're huge!
But I did it.
My mom said - never tell anyone else about this.
I just stared at her.
I never told anyone until after she died
PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO PARENTS.

I got on my horse after establishing a relationship with her, and then I saw my 3yo running through the pastures full of horses.
I flipped to look at my mom.
"He was Loud!"
My glare singed the planet.
Meanwhile the people AND DOGS who worked on the ranch went after my 3yo as I jumped off the horse.
Because there were lakes.

I signed up for lessons for myself.
Two lessons.
Climbing onto a 3000 pound animal was terrifying. I'm not okay with it.
My mom came along, and I told her that no matter what my younger son did she could not release him from his stroller.
He was 3 and very fast.
My mom said okay.
I got on a horse, terrified.

My trans son was an emotional wreck at age 5 and although I suspected that he was queer I didn't know what was going on.
So I took him for horse riding lessons.
In a place where you were required to groom and also be there with the farrier.
My kid has almost no memory of this.
But I do.
He did great.
I love horses. They also terrify me.
It was good for all of us.
Oh there's a story.

There's nothing like watching your 5 yo bow to a horse they just helped groom and watching that horse bow in return.
When you're over 40 and still terrified of horses
And because of your kid you finally get on a horse after bowing first.
It's a bundle of hard shit made out of keratin.
It's only icky if a horse isn't comfortable with their leg lifted and worked with.
I took 16 for horse when he was 5 and almost 6, and we were assigned to farrier.
They really don't even feel it.
It's like a gemstone punched into a fingernail.
This is why proper horse people have their horses reshoed as soon as that hoof grows.
In 1981 my father had me for the weekend and woke up to find me with my blanket elevated like this although I was on my stomach and he freaked out.
I was on my stomach with my feet lifted.
I just checked on my younger son and gloried in the geometry of sleeping soundly.
Who cares as long as you are asleep?

This is a bunch of us #Autistic people every time we misunderstood something because we didn't know if it was serious or a joke.
Yes, we have deep feelings.
We sometimes get confused.
Ugly bag of mostly water.
