I need to gently explain a thing to you.
Everyone.
If a person tells you that no one is your enemy and Everyone should just be loving for Everyone?
And angry is evil?
And Everyone should just get along?
They're a white cis het male person who has never had to fear for their life due to their existence.
Have a great night.

@AskTheDevil @Shelter When someone asked “WWJD”, remember that flipping tables and chasing people with whips is within the realm of possibility.
@Nimthiriel @AskTheDevil @Shelter I like to also remind people that while Jesus was very nice, I'm not Jesus, and I don't have to turn the other cheek when I see injustice.
He can forgive them after we're done educating them if he likes.
@CoyoteConscious @Nimthiriel @AskTheDevil
Jesus whipped the bankers.
People don't understand Jesus.
@CoyoteConscious @AskTheDevil @Shelter Also, back then, 'turn the other cheek' had a different meaning. I found this online:
"Turning one’s left cheek is an act of defiance. To backhand again would require the left hand, a tacit admission of the uncleanliness of your actions. To hit directly would be to treat them as an equal. Turning the left cheek is to do far more than roll over and accept injustice. It’s to defy the violence of the world, but to do so from a place of active resistance."
@Nimthiriel @CoyoteConscious @Shelter When I turn the other cheek, sometimes it is not my cheek, it is the cheek of the person who slapped me.
What is the sound of one hand clapping?
I notice that in many old Buddhist stories, a supplicant becomes enlightened after getting smacked upside the head.
@Shelter Can confirm.
I understand that some of us want to believe that there are negative and positive emotions, and that some are "good people jesus" emotions, while others are "unevolved".
All the emotions are there for a reason.
Sometimes, you're _supposed_ to be angry.
Sometimes, you being all jesus/buddha-ish just makes you a doormat, and makes it easier for others to get feet wiped on them and boots on their necks.
We don't get angry _enough_.
