Just finished first 3 seasons of Jack Ryan on Prime Video.

Why are our leaders so much better in most fiction than reality?

Rhetorical somewhat. But I do wonder why it seems even the worst examples have good intentions.

Maybe it is confirmation bias on my part and I just don't remember the bad examples.

EVERY existing and prospective Federal elected official and ALL high-level Federal employees, especially law-enforcement personnel and court officials, should be required to take a graduate level course on the Constitution, the Bill-of-Rights and ALL following amendments, including those which were NOT enacted. The syllabus must include a thorough reading, studying and understanding of the Federalist Papers.

U.C. Berkley professor Paul Pitt ran the experiment.
Poor players understood the game was rigged. Wealthy players attributed the failure of poor players to bad decisions they made.

You see this all the time IRL.

If you aren't on Instagram, the net is certain players were given extra money to start and extra dice rolls. Unsurprisingly, they did better in the game. But they discounted the factor of their advantages in their success, attributing it more to skill and choices made.
"Poor" players universally failed and attributed failure to their starting situation.

Interesting insight on an experiment using Monopoly by a professor. Totally predictable to me as people tend to internalize success amd externalize failure.

“tax cuts for the rich…do not have any significant effect on economic growth or unemployment,” but they do “lead to higher income inequality in both the short- and medium-term.” "Both President Joe Biden and House speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) have stated publicly that the U.S. will not default."

Texas: Government is best when it is local. Laws should be tailored for the places and people they govern.
Texas cities: Sweet *does that*
Texas: No, not like that.

Hope there is a special place in Hell for people who dump dogs.

Trying to find a place for a "stray" from our neigborhood. No collar, no chip, but it was obviously acclimated to people (though not well behaved.)

Would it be too much to ask to give an opt out option for future solicitation when you donate to a candidate?

Fun Fact; If you call, email or mail your Senator or Representative for any reason (even only to complain about their votes or behavior) you get on the SPAM list for them as well.

Farming industry in Florida is having a meltdown after the right wing government passed a bill sharply limiting immigrant labor in the state.

I mean…you get what you vote for.

Red states aren’t poor because they make smart moves.

@Alfred When did you first realize your father was associated with right wing facists and how did it make you feel at the time?
