REMINDER: Since 1869, every time GOP controls both the WH and Congress for 5 years or more has resulted in a Great Recession or a Great Depression. 2001-2007 caused the Great Recession. 1921-1933 caused Great Depression. They took control in 1869. Within 4 years caused the Great Depression of 1873 that lasted 6 years.

It was created to give Southern states partial credit for slave populations, without allowing them to vote of course. The 3/5 compromise, plus the 2 votes per state regardless of size gave small states a proportionally larger say.
It also had to do with 18th Century logistics of counting votes.
Archaic on all counts.
@djmpb The Republican rationalization they are fed to repeat is "It exist otherwise New York and California would run everything." It is a lie both in that statement and in the reason it was created.
CA and NY have large conservative voting minorities. The most conservative state has large liberal voting minority - like 40%. If those states vote Dem barely, and small Red states vote Pub overwhelmingly, then it helps Dems more than a national popular vote.

We vote on a device, print the results on a scan sheet. Then scan that paper, back to Electrons.
The idea that paper is more secure is flawed. Paper is tangible, but you still have to trust those records are secured and all are secured equally.
This is actually a good use case for block chain technology.

The stupidity of the archaic EC makes it closer than it should be, but I think poll averages are skewed by right wing skewed polls.
All states should be "battleground states." All votes should matter equally.
@amarand The Ultra podcast series (seasons 1 and 2) should be required listening for all the people with these flags. They claim it is just supporting police. Underneath the similarities to a lot of things they spew is undeniably close to the American Nazi movement of the 30s.
