It's seven days until Roevember 5th.
A few months after 9/11, I was walking down 7th Ave near Washington Square and NYU in the West Village. I came upon a chain link fence that had hundreds of tiles wired to it, created by NYC school kids honoring first responders and those who died in the attack. I read most of them.
George W. Bush took an event that united the entire nation, grabbed a sledge hammer, and drove a wedge between us that exists to this day. (more)

@SSNBubblehead totally wasted unity that resulted from that tragic event. Never got it back.
I remember the news conference outside of the Capitol Building in the hours following the attack. 7:15 PM.
Leaders from both political parties were in solidarity. Dennis Hastert (R) (then Speaker of the House before he pedo'd out). Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D). Harry Reid (R). Others.
And then...and then...it all went away. Because solidarity and unity of purpose is not profitable.
