Tomorrow night is our 40th HS reunion. I go to hang out with the popular kids, who have all done VERY WELL.
"It's not a beauty pageant," a coworker once remarked about how people dress at corporate.
"Everything's a beauty pageant." I responded.
I did the opposite, I've always navigated to those who were not popular, who may have had a difficult life, or not been able to achieve what they set out to do.
It's bad enough that during high school kids are prone to be chastised for not succeeding, it may have carried on into their adult lives preventing them from doing so.
I wanted to interact with those kinds of people who probably have a lot to say.
@CherNohio In HS I was known (brains) by the popular kids but we did not hang out. In fact, they thought I was gay. So, I was not popular but not an outcast.
I gravitated towards GIRLS, weed and DND. 😃

I don't think I'd want to ever go to a high school reunion, ever, regardless of how popular I was or how successful I became. Generally people were not nice to me, and I doubt the years have improved them. You're lucky you even want to go, and it means you were more popular than you may have thought.

I was the lone wolf trying to achieve while being silenced for my "radical" views. Back in those days one could only be vocal so loudly before being knocked down a notch or two by peers or admin. I made up for it after graduation and continue to do so time to time.
But, it's that kind I associate with now that need to know they aren't'/weren't lost sheep in the pasture.
