One image of a larger story on the suffering of Little People and what they endure to correct their bones and joints. These are mostly children who have knees and spines that melt like ice cream unless a Hero like the late Steven Kopits helps them.

Piecing it together - of course it had to be the 82nd, I had been in Ft. Campbell previously, but this trip was before "Just Cause" and the drop had easily 30+ C-141s ( I was a guest of the USAF). Thanks for clearing that up.

@lastshadow this was in 1989 or so,. My memory says it was an exercise that was NOT the 82nd, and I know it wasn't SOC. So yeah. long time ago :)

The tail end of a stick of 101st Airborne dropping in Fayetteville.

@NotTheFakeNate Speaking of the Buff, here is what a stick of retarded Mk 82 500lb bombs looks like going off in the Nevada desert dropped at 2000ft. Taken from a hill 3 miles away. Arclight!

Here is a detail shot from underneath while it was in the R&D Hangar at Wright-Patterson AFB.

@Romquest LOL. And the BUFF is still dropping bombs! Let's tally up all of its "replaclements."
B-58
XB-70
B-1A
B-1B
B-2
and now the B-21... I'll believe it when I see it.

@NotTheFakeNate Yep I remember the event as a kid. You are of course correct it was a bomber, (sorry if i was unclear) but the thinking at the time was driving supersonic commercial aviation as well, as so many military things have. Early development of the concord was happening at the same time. Cool stuff! Here of course, is what replaced the XB-70 for us.

@NotTheFakeNate
For those that don't know, the XB-70A flew quite well, aside from overheating landing gear, but one of the chase planes up there (prob for a photo op) hit the stabilizer and brought the prototype down in a ball of fire. Sadly they didn't pursue further development and the UK/French Concord ended up winning the race to supersonic commercial flight. dailymotion.com/video/x2zba4u
Note the Chase planes included an F-4, an F-104 and T-38s among others nearby.

After using AI for a few weeks: Every aspect of creativity has been digitized and is an issue we need to grapple with. I use AI edit tools, spend many hours adjusting / building an image. that's effort, not magic. Yes it diminishes the craft of hand drawn illustration - but after effort, creating a unique result isn't any less the vision and craft of the creator than it is using illustrator/pshop or other digital tools. My answer to copyright is post process to add imagery not AI made.

@NotTheFakeNate The operator drives the joy stick in the center with a blister canopy beneath him and there are narrow padded shelves on each side of him where observers can perch. The KC-10 has a huge panoramic window in a darkened room. The BO sits in what looks like a gaming chair, with a magnificent view. I would snd up next to them then lean in with a Nikkor 15mm and a leica 21mm for pics - the "customers" were that close.
