@LiberalLibrarian They're probably my favorite potato. Very versatile.

@LiberalLibrarian I approve of potatoes.

Ever tried creamer potatoes? Those are great. (Widely sold under the "Little Potato" brand.)

@KodoAndSangha @AskTheDevil There have been scientific clues for a while now that "whiteness" in the modern European sense is a very recent phenomenon, dating back just a few thousand years.

@LiberalLibrarian Well, not necessarily. They could go the Michigan route and indict the fake electors and local saboteurs only. Which would still have real value. It's not like TFG isn't already facing justice.

@Razdawg22 @PoliticalEd They dodge that obvious implication with the "he can't get a fair trial it's all rigged" line, of course.

@KodoAndSangha @AskTheDevil They'll couch it as "he can't get a fair trial" etc., etc. But yeah, many of them do seem to be assuming conviction.

Apparently the 5 year minimum can be overruled by a judge, though Willis has indicated she will argue against that.

So right-wingers are now demanding that the GA state legislature change its extremely limited pardon system (it can only be done by a review board and only AFTER a sentence is served) so Kemp (who doesn't defend anyway) can give a pardon.

As the R GA Speaker tiredly pointed out, the pardon system isn't set by legislation, but by the state constitution. An amendment requires 2/3 majorities of both houses (which Rs don't have) and a statewide referendum at the next general election...

@LiberalLibrarian One wonders what effect his catastrophic national campaign has had in FL. In '18, he won by the barest fraction. In '22, he won in an epic landslide. Whither DeSantis now?

Heh. Despite the assumptions of prior model makers, "Ötzi the Iceman" evidently wasn't "White" in the modern sense.

(This backs up a lot of research indicating that whiteness as known today is a quite recent genetic phenomenon in Europe.)

@Arrens @LiberalLibrarian We can never be sure what voters will do. But recent election cycles, particularly the '22 midterms (where voters were basically ordered by the media to ignore everything but inflation and vote R), are encouraging.

@Arrens @LiberalLibrarian I wouldn't worry too much about that. No matter what the actual dynamics of '24 prove to be, the media and pollsters will generate the narrative of a neck-and-neck horse race. Plus endless hype about 3rd party candidates determining the outcome (which is actually valuable, since they actually could unless voters realize they could).

@LiberalLibrarian Of course much of the response is "But Biden isn't any more popular!"

Disapproval of Biden and of Trump mean very different things.

As George Conway correctly asked, when will they poll likely voters for who will crawl over broken glass in a hurricane to vote against Trump?

@LiberalLibrarian A strong Black woman in a position of authority over their cult leaders encapsulates everything MAGA exists to stop.

@Redskye572 Though undeniably, "drinking the Flavor-Aid" just wouldn't have the same ring to it.

@Redskye572 In point of fact, Jonestown was actually stocked with Flavor-Aid (grape, as it happens).

I bet the Kool-Aid company has long wished that more people knew that.

@LiberalLibrarian I just posted about that conspiracy theory. Another moment of glory for MAGA.
