@RationalLeft If only he could have had this thought in 2016 🤷‍♂️

@Razdawg22 @RationalLeft He did support and campaign for Hillary *after* she won the nomination. Unlike Biden, she wasn't the incumbent President - merely the party and bookmaker favorite. I find the notion that there shouldn't have been a real primary in 2016 to be un-American, un-democratic, and deeply troubling.

@sanau @Razdawg22 My objection was that he continued the fight to the convention, long after he had been mathematically eliminated. There could have been unity far earlier.

@RationalLeft @Razdawg22 He did that because he was representing the views of millions of Americans who would otherwise have been left out of the conversation, as they had been for years. He also believed (correctly, in my view) that Hillary and other Democrats would do better in the general election by embracing at least some progressive policies.

@RationalLeft @Razdawg22 To clarify, the convention isn't just about crowning a nominee. The delegates also vote on the party platform.

@sanau @RationalLeft @Razdawg22

Exactly, it isn't about winning the Nomination, but defining a platform that will win in the general election. Biden was REALLY good at building that coalition both in 2008 and 2020

my biggest issue with Bernie is he doesn't really help down ticket Democrats being an independant.
