With Congress not in session and Lula not in the capital, I'm less than clear what Bolsonaro insurrectionists expect to achieve by trashing govt buildings.
I wouldn't expect they'll win public opinion that way. They won't stop the operation of govt. By imitating Jan 6 they remind Americans of the original and embarrass their Trumpist supporters. And by setting up barricades they're effectively subjecting themselves to a siege. How do they resupply themselves? What does "victory" look like?
@Lucky188 I hope they follow proper legal process.
Cutting corners sets a very dangerous precedent for the next time the right is in power.
@RationalLeft I do as well ( the justice part). I dont think here we have acted or made use of proper legal processes, or we wouldnt now be dealing with a house full of seditionists violating the constitution by even holding a fed office.
@Lucky188 It's uphill to get convictions against people who didn't directly participate in the riot.
Though the seditious conspiracy convictions recently help strengthen the options.
@RationalLeft I sort of hope that Brazilians have much less patience than Americans have for traitors and that the justice is swift and severe.
Maybe in this way they can show Americans how its done.
