Still staring at this estimate. The gross cost of one round of chemo is $40,048.50.
Now, this is before any insurance or anything. We are lucky enough to have great insurance, but this is absolutely disgusting. Multiple rounds are a given, but what if you need 6, 8, 10, or more rounds and you have no insurance or minimal insurance.
Why was the idea tax payer funded, cost controlled, universal healthcare a bad thing?
@cassandra17lina It's disgusting and infuriating. By the time we're done, this will likely wipe us out, but, and God is it a thankful "but", we should be able to cover all this between insurance and 30 years of saving.
I just can't wrap my head around how these numbers are acceptable, reasonable, ethical, moral, etc. on any level.
@PrivacyL0st most cdns don't understand why the 🇺🇸 is so opposed to universal health care.
it's odd to us.
but i guess if you can't afford life saving treatments, you die.
@PrivacyL0st
It's all because of our 'Bought and Paid For' politicians. Our medical/health industry makes them multi-millionaires, while our citizens die...
"Of the people, by the people, for the people..." -> BS ! !
It's all about the $$$...
Husband's emp offers us free cancer coverage at MD Anderson in Houston (major cancer center). No co-pays, no deductible, no EOBs, no questions. Just covered.
That was an INCREDIBLE comfort when I was diagnosed back in 2018. I still go there for all my post-treatment screenings.
The fact that this is not the norm is not lost on me. We're incredibly fortunate. We also feel very tied to his job/company, which is not the best feeling. He loves his job, but relocation is difficult.
@PrivacyL0st Glad you have great insurance - we do also, otherwise Mr. Carolina’s cancer meds would cost $14,000 a month. Unfortunately, millions of Americans don’t have great, good, or even fair insurance. The decisions they’re forced to make are unthinkable.
