I disagree. It's hard to imagine that knowing they'll need a new and lucrative gig soon won't affect rulings. What we're seeing now is nothing, imo, compared to the corruption we'd see then

We need Congress to legislate some strict & specific ethical requirements along with clear & specific outlines for penalties if/when those requirements aren't met.

@BrazenlyLiberal I don't disagree that ethical requirements are needed but having life long terms makes one feel a little untouchable.

Ah, but they're not untouchable. They can be impeached. It's been done once that I can think of.

A firm set of ethical requirements - including some serious transparency
- would help keep them in line and boot them if they wander.

@BrazenlyLiberal We won't see any impeachments any time soon, even though some members should be. It's not something we can rely on.

True. But the same Congress that won't impeach a justice any time soon certainly won't do all the work necessary to bring about a Constitutional amendment to limit that justice's term.
