As for clothing donation centers for the needy, some states/county's in the US do have clothing centers for those in most need. These are the following items I would recommend donating, if you can afford to.
*Underclothing of all sizes.
*Winter clothing (Jackets, coats, mittens and gloves ect, as well as winter socks and hats are always in high demand.)
*Blankets and bedding items.
*Childrens clothing of all sizes.
*Long and short sleeved shirts and sweaters.
*Pants, any kind.
*Shoes
