@Dogofalltrees Okay, so depending on what you are going to therapy for, personally I look for trauma specialists that are supportive to LGBTQ folks, or LGBTQ themselves, I check PsychologyToday's search listings first before I check any providers personal site for any reviews from patients and fellow providers. I am currently looking for a new therapist myself, so I feel ya on the search being a hard one.
@Dogofalltrees As for my own search experience, I went through at least 11 before I found one that I seriously clicked with and felt safe speaking to with all levity. And that's over a span of about 5 years after I moved to Michigan and started getting serious about my mental health needing help.
@Dogofalltrees What I would recommend, is go for at least an introduction session, if you get any bad feeling, or bad vibes about the therapist, definitely listen to that gut feeling and look for another one that can fit the bill of what you need in care.
