The rule of tolerance is a social contract. Intolerance breaks that social contract. I needn't say more.
@sentientdessert bingo bullseye Right on Target!
@sentientdessert @PaganMother got this from someone else here on CoSo, and I hold it close to my heart now. Every time I hear “you must tolerate my intolerance” I remind myself of this:
@sentientdessert @PaganMother As an engineer, I'd like to point out that tolerances only go up to a point. Tolerance does not mean that you accept everything, no matter how destructive or awful. It means you don't freak out over everything that irritates or causes friction.
Tolerances have limits.
Aye, I dealt with this recently... set up a boundary, I will tolerate everything up to this point. Boundary got pushed, and so the goal posts were moved to be more restrictive because of the violation.
Reached the point where I won't even tolerate her presence.
@AskTheDevil @sentientdessert @PaganMother
As does acceptance. It doesn't mean I like it, but it's reality and I have to accept that
@Idissent @sentientdessert @PaganMother Yes. : )
@AskTheDevil @sentientdessert @PaganMother
It makes life so much easier when you can just accept what it is and move on. No point in arguing or cursing at the world. If it can't be changed, move on
@sentientdessert @PaganMother
Absofuckinglutley
@PaganMother But we can keep saying it until enough people hear it! : )
🖤
@PaganMother "Oh, but you're being inteollerant of my intollerance, making you the bad guy."
What I hear the talking heads on the right using so frequently...
that or "you're not tolerating my faith which requires I hate people."
Honestly, if your faith requires you to hate anyone, then... there's something wrong with your faith.
