I can actually provide a personal story on this. When I was pregnant with my youngest (He's 6, turning 7 this year.), I went to a crisis center in hopes they might be able to help me find resources for SNAP's applications, housing assistance and medical care since I was hitting my last trimester at the time. They went on a "Oh abortion isn't the answer" speil while I was rolling my eyes and nodding my head and dared to ask if I was "saved" I made it a point that I am an ordained minister. 1/
But was not attached or assigned to any organized church, nor did I wish to be, given the hypocrisy of the Christians that were preaching to me right in that moment. Both of the center workers looked at each other in silence, looked at me, and looked at each other one more time before pushing paperwork over to refer me to a local planned parenthood center, and spoke quite rudely about how ungodly it was that I was separated from my ex husband. 2/

What I did learn from that experience is that almost every Pregnancy Crisis Center is funded and run by religious groups mostly tied to anti-abortion organizations and lobby organizations. If you MUST seek out help, go straight to your DHS/Dept of Health, or call your local information network to find out where you can get assistance. Do not, and I do mean, do not, go to a Pregnancy Crisis Center.
It took everything I had in my self control to keep from reaching out and shaking that woman by the shoulders. I told her as calmly as my clenched teeth would allow, that I was married to someone that ended up beating the hell out of me and I did what I had to, in order to survive that ordeal.
