Both of the center workers looked at each other in silence, looked at me, and looked at each other one more time before pushing paperwork over to refer me to a local planned parenthood center, and spoke quite rudely about how ungodly it was that I was separated from my ex husband. 2/

What I did learn from that experience is that almost every Pregnancy Crisis Center is funded and run by religious groups mostly tied to anti-abortion organizations and lobby organizations. If you MUST seek out help, go straight to your DHS/Dept of Health, or call your local information network to find out where you can get assistance. Do not, and I do mean, do not, go to a Pregnancy Crisis Center.
It took everything I had in my self control to keep from reaching out and shaking that woman by the shoulders. I told her as calmly as my clenched teeth would allow, that I was married to someone that ended up beating the hell out of me and I did what I had to, in order to survive that ordeal.
