Oh, my gawd. Look at the size of that fly. Have never seen one like that before. The lattice strip it's sitting on is about 1.25 inches wide. That is HUGE.

I was afraid to get closer to it. Either it would fly off or attack me.

The and I think it's one of those fake bugs the guvment makes to spy on people. Mini .

Why it's here, I have no idea ... unless "they" have been checking my YouTube watching. 👀

@GeezerWench That's a horse fly. 😂 They are huge and they bite hard.

@Olivecatto I had to google that thing.

The horse flies I've seen before have been yellowish. I've never seen a black one!

@GeezerWench I have never seen a yellow one. Only the black ones. They love water and were always at the lake.

@Olivecatto Maybe it's a regional thing? I live in southeastern PA, grew up in MD. We had those sheep flies that are sort of yellowish and very triangular.
then the yellowish horse flies.

This black one sure was different!

We're not that far from an Amish farm and they have horses, some cows, and goats. Along with lots of chickens. But I haven't even seen the regular horse flies here. I guess that black one was lost! 😂

@GeezerWench Well you can have them all! In return I would like all your firefly's and their glowy bums. Sadly not many exist in Northern Utah. Only in really random spots and just a few.

@Olivecatto Maybe they need a bit more humidity. Because isn't Utah rather dry?

We do have lightning bugs in the yard, which is cool.
