@NorthernInvader and why do you have to dig through so much of it to get โdownโ to the layer the Romans walked on?
Iโll tell you why. Fucking pollen!
(No. Iโm not scratching my eyes out. Much.)
@MookyTroubadour many tons of space dust land on earth every day. Combine that with desert dust carried by strong wins (much Saharan dust ends up in South America) and ongoing erosion of mountains, all combine to cause a build up of dirt over centuries and millenia. More reasons here https://ask.metafilter.com/237694/How-do-things-get-buried-in-dirt-over-thousands-of-years
@NorthernInvader well sure- if you want to be that specific. In my case, something is in bloom thatโs messing with me, so pollen is the designated villain. :)

I was so hopeful about the internet in the 90s - i thought the big issues would get resolved and conflict would be dialed back.
OMG was i ever wrong as i realized propaganda achieved new life online
Holy crap!
