I don't celebrate anyone's death, but refuse to whitewash their life

@killingfloorman

If he was not afraid of doing those things, and he disrespected us all enough to do them, we should not have to refrain from pointing them out simply because he's dead.

@Agatha @killingfloorman absolutely! Because dying doesn’t erase the harm you’ve caused while alive. I had to turn off Nicole Wallace yesterday do to all the Lieberman love. He might have been a very loving guy to his friends but not so much for people like me that desperately needed the ACA.

The ACA literally saved my husband after COBRA fucked him over. Because he had Crohn's, before the ACA he'd never get private coverage. But because the ACA did away with the pre-existing conditions clause, he was able to get somewhat affordable coverage until he got hired on with his company (he was a contractor before that).

@Agatha @NorCalCherylLyn @killingfloorman I am grateful for the ACA, which allows my sons (who have pre-existing conditions) to stay on our health insurance until age 26. When I was their age, I went without health insurance for about a year until I was hired on at a place that had insurance (I worked as a temp until getting hired on officially). Planned Parenthood was where I went to get health care until then.

@AverageCitizen @Agatha @killingfloorman I also used PP as my healthcare provider. I’ll be grateful forever for the impressive care I got.

I was pretty po’d when his wife was hired for $250k a year by PP. 😖

@killingfloorman @AverageCitizen @Agatha having been dependent on it, lacking it, and working in the insurance industry I couldn’t agree more. It almost guarantees most of us will suffer to some degree sometime in our life.

I did what the GOP would think was a good thing - I stayed home and took care of my son. Then I ended up divorced with no healthcare as the jobs I could get didn't offer healthcare.

Tethering healthcare to employment tethers people to what may be toxic work environments, and it's yet another way to tether mainly moms to toxic men.

@Agatha @AverageCitizen @killingfloorman I know so many homemakers, including myself, that ended up in the same situation. I worked in dental offices mostly but some medical. Got free dental care when I worked in a DDs office and the same for medical. One or the other were lacking most of my life.

@NorCalCherylLyn @AverageCitizen @killingfloorman

I've been there twice now. I was younger then. Healthier. Now? It'd be devastating.

@Agatha @killingfloorman it’s saved so many lives!! Happy your hubby was one. 👍🏻👍🏻

I was able to get a hysterectomy to prevent cancer when the ACA became an option. Not sure what would have happened without it.
