With the war in Israel my hubby is flashing back to his time in that area on the USS Dwight D Eisenhower. He did 3 Med Tours ‘80-84 during Libya and the aftermath of the Beirut Marine barracks bombing.
Trying to keep focused on things like the carrier group and how different the Ford is from the Ike.

@NorCalCherylLyn Yeah, no kidding. I’m afraid of heights, so id have to have a job somewhere in the guts, or the middle of the deck. I thin my brother spent most of his time in the Med, he mentioned Haifa and Corfu a lot…

Hubby was on the flight deck nearly 24/7 and he said the fresh air was almost worth it.
@NorCalCherylLyn Oh, no, he was in the Mediterranean, pretty much all calm seas. He gets car sick, so I don’t think he’d have lasted long in the North Atlantic…😄
@NotoriousEPS oh no, he would have been incapacitated probably. Hubby had waves breaking over his head…90ft from sea level. 😳🥴🤢

@NotoriousEPS Med Tours are great things if there is no awful conflicts. Hubby went everywhere seeing sites he’d never get the chance to go back to. Wish he had the photos he took!
@NotoriousEPS hubby took the entire flight deck crews out to a fantastic Greek restaurant and they ate and drank for hours. 10k well spent. 😁
He has some great stories. Greece was amazing to him.

@NorCalCherylLyn My brother has some pretty wild (NSFW) stories from Corfu. Though he was really young and kinda stupid.😄
And I hadn’t heard they had sent them. Though having them there may be a big deterrent to worse problems…

The Ike being added to the mix is pretty big deterrent. I hope sanity begins to rule in the minds of the war minded…
@NorCalCherylLyn Yeah my brother was there in a relatively quiet time, so they did get to do a lot of sightseeing (partying) in Israel and Greece.
