I’m running into nothing but blanks in trying to find some history on the Rochester Minnesota Police. This was early to mid 80s.
I know that they were investigated and officers were prosecuted for running or facilitating a prostitution ring. And at least one auxiliary officer went to prison for contract killings. But I can’t find any newspaper or tv reports about it.
Any tips would be appreciated. Trying to build a rebuttal to false accusations of crimes by a corrupt police dept.
@PrChrisHarbin that could help, thanks.
@NorCalCherylLyn If you haven’t already, I suggest you go talk to the reference librarian at your public library. They have skills and resources that regularly astonish me.
@Satchelpooch that’s a good idea. TY!

I'm guessing most of the data sources you need have not been digitized. Maybe a law library, courthouse, or newspaper archives in microfiche format would have what you need.
@PrChrisHarbin yeah, I’m sure they gave no real need to digitize stuff from that long ago. It’d be easier if I wasn’t almost 2k miles away. Going to see what their library system might have online.
@NorCalCherylLyn I'm guessing that police dept did some leaning and had it all scrubbed. Just a guess.
@mims that’s what hubby said. He wasn’t surprised that I couldn’t find it.
@NorCalCherylLyn The MN Historical Society is updating their digital library platform and as such it isn't available until (soon?). BUT they do have a decent guide to their resources, e.g.;
https://libguides.mnhs.org/crime
https://libguides.mnhs.org/institutions/prisons
Recommend contacting them; HS tend to be super knowledgeable.
Some digitalized Rochester Newspapers (search Rochester and narrow to desired years): https://newspapers.mnhs.org/jsp/PsSearchResults.jsp
Hope this helps
@b4cks4w thank you!! I give it a whirl…

Looks like this data goes back to 1960s:
