I think sometimes people just want to kill people. The way some of us crave chocolate, or get a hankering for steak, or maybe the way alcoholics crave a drink. There are all kinds of excuses for it, but it boils down to some people just want to kill people.

That's all I got. 🤷

@janallmac There is an aspect of human nature that is tribal. Their species is much more a federation than it is fully unified was one unit.

With this kind of breakdown it becomes easy to separate out some humans as targets, especially when one feels that their actions, no matter how outwardly heinous may improve the chances of survival or happiness of their specific tribe.

From these soils, they have sown many atrocities.

@janallmac I remember distinctly the first attempt on Trump how many people talked about how much they regretted that the shooter missed.

A lot of people see him as an external threat, and with enough moral distance that they only need approve of the act, the dirty work becomes easy to justify.

This is, and has always been a trap. The moment one denies the sacredness of any one life and considers it expendable, it opens a dark path.

@NiveusLepus Yep. And I think some people are more into this than others.

@janallmac Indeed. Utilitarian ethics is a beast. It seems highly practical, but it has dangerous depths.
